What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a biopsychosocial and environmental approach to medicine.
It is based on the principle that for an individual to be healthy the three elements of the triad of health – physical, biochemical and mental have to be in balance.
Dysfunction in one area will inevitably lead to disruption elsewhere and the potential for disease. Naturopathy aims to look for the root cause of illness, correct that and therefore assist the body in returning to a healthy equilibrium.
Prior to the consultation you will be sent a 7-day diet diary to complete that should be emailed or brought along with you to the consultation.
At the consultation a detailed case history will be taken to understand your current concerns, any known health conditions and get an understanding of your lifestyle.
I will then use this information together with the completed diet diary to compile a report that will include suggestions on how to improve your diet, promote detoxification and elimination, improve circulation and lifestyle modification suggestions with reference to your age, sex and existing medical conditions.
For more complicated cases more involved diagnostic testing may be considered advantageous.
Follow up appointment
Once I have analysed the diet diary and any further tests have been completed you will be invited for a follow up appointment when I will discuss with you any test results and my naturopathic suggestions and give guidance as to how these may be implemented.
It may not always be possible to identify the underlying cause of the problem but often a number of contributing factors may be identified which can be addressed naturopathically in order to reduce the stress on the body.
